Show the children the ‘Making a Bee Hotel’ instructions. In teams the children will design and make their own Bee Hotel. Once their design is complete the team will explore the playground and decide where they are going to build their Bee Hotel.
Use this sheet to encourage the children to design their own bee hotel. Remember to work in teams and use each other's skills. Don’t forget to label all the materials that they will need to build their home.
After designing the bee hotel in groups, encourage each of the children to think about how they will make their hotel designs. Remember to use clear instructions and think about what they will need.
Here are some bee hotel examples and ideas. Use these designs to inspire the children's ideas and make them think about the style, decoration and materials that they need to make their own bee hotel.
Use the presentation to teach the children about what a bee hotel is, where you put a bee hotel and how to know if your bee hotel has guests. This will inspire the children when it comes to designing and making their own bee hotels.
