Use the letters in the word brave to inspire the children to write their own acrostic poem.

Use the template to encourage the children to think about a time they were brave, how it made them feel, and draw a picture of them being brave.

Introduce the children to the words 'brave' and 'courageous'. Use the activities to encourage the children to be brave and confident. Encourage them to create poems and reflect on the times they have been brave and courageous.

Use the presentation to learn about what it means to be brave and courageous. Think back at how Bertie felt in the book, what was his biggest fear? And how did he overcome it? Use the answers to these questions to encourage the children to think about what they are scared of and how they can be brave and overcome these fears.

Create and decorate your own jar of courage. Write on small bits of paper whenever the children do something courageous or brave. At the end of the month empty out the jar to see all the amazing things the children have achieved.

Ask the children to read the poem 'Almost nothing scares me!' Ask the children to rewrite the poem, changing the words that are underlined to make it their own.
