Introduce the children to the words 'brave' and 'courageous'. Use the activities to encourage the children to be brave and confident. Encourage them to create poems and reflect on the times they have been brave and courageous.

Courage presentation
Use the presentation to learn about what it means to be brave and courageous. Think back at how Bertie felt in the book, what was his biggest fear? And how did he overcome it? Use the answers to these questions to encourage the children to think about what they are scared of and how they can be brave and overcome these fears.

My courage jar
Create and decorate your own jar of courage. Write on small bits of paper whenever the children do something courageous or brave. At the end of the month empty out the jar to see all the amazing things the children have achieved.
